SPORT IN AURORA MAGAZINE IS AURORA'S ONLY MAGAZINE DEDICATED TO AMATEUR SPORT.
WE ARE PROUD TO BRING THE BEST OF WHAT LOCAL SPORT OFFERS TO YOU BI-MONTHLY
SO YOU CAN KEEP UP WITH WHAT MATTERS IN SPORT IN AURORA.
Established in 2011, one of the objectives of Sport in Aurora is to celebrate the efforts and achievements of our Sport Aurora member Organizations and the families they serve. We think amateur sport deserves more than a one-column account of a game or match. It deserves to be celebrated. There are many stories to be told about the outstanding achievements of players, teams, coaches and those who help make it all possible, the sport volunteers. This is what we publish. It is all about amateur sport and it all happens in Aurora!

Please keep your submissions on topic. Use appropriate grammar, punctuation and spelling. The Editor ultimately has responsibility for the content and style of the article and reserves the right to edit any submission. We do not provide a review or approval for stories submitted but may ask for approval if they are significantly edited for size or content.
Identify yourself as the author with correct spelling of your name and your “position” or relationship to the article. This is your “by-line”. You are welcome to include a short (one small paragraph) biography with your piece. If you have a corporate, team or personal website, please include that as well.
Please title your submission. We may decide to change it at publication, but at least we'll have something from which we can work.
Please submit all articles in Microsoft Word format, with no fancy formatting or fonts. Simple Times New Roman 12pt. font, or whatever the default is on your computer is fine. Do not paste your text into the body of an email, it is much better to provide your story in a MS Word Format. Do not indent or use bullets on your lists. We do all the layout, but we need the text
Always, always link to sources if you make a statement that isn't "common knowledge”, especially statistics, you must back it up with a link as a resource. If you need help with this, you can always ask for some research tips. But we'll probably just tell you to go to Google.
Please let us know if your story is an original submission. We prefer them to be original, but we will reprint exceptional pieces. Sport in Aurora does not pay for submitted articles.
DO NOT embed any photo within the text. Send the photo separately. We will lay it out to suit the publication. That's why we have a talented Art Director!!
Articles of greater than 250 words (one-page) are seldom used in their entirety. We prefer ½ page (175 words) or ¼ page (100 words) or pictures and captions (one paragraph with names or facts about the picture). If a story exceeds the space allotted for it, it may not be used.
When submitting a picture (and we like pictures…give us a few to choose from if possible), please send the highest resolution possible. Pictures that are low resolution do not print well and it is a waste of everyone’s time. We provide an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) site called Dropbox so your documents can be uploaded and in particular pictures not compressed... Let me reiterate…pictures are great and we like them. We celebrate smiling faces of participants enjoying sport.
Please ensure that when you send pictures, you have the permission to use the picture from parents of those in the picture. Please also include the name of the person who took the picture. This is called a 'photo credit' and it is important you give credit for this service and we want to also. It also includes the rights to use the photo, so don't leave this out. We have permission forms for this if you like…but just asking the parent is the best way. Most people are eager to have their kids photos in the magazine unless there is a specific personal reason why not. We will assume you have secured the rights when you send a picture to us.
When taking action shots, try and get the action coming to you. That way we get to see faces. Always send the correct spelling of names of people in the pictures from left to right. We like to publish names with pictures.
If you have an event, let us know. We may be able to send a photographer and gather not only professional pictures of the day, but also people on the sidelines.
